Kevin Obbard Building and Refurbishment consists of a team of experienced craftsmen based on Dartmoor and covering the South West of England. It’s always interesting to hear more about the business of a new member, especially one with a long and impressive history in their field. This week the 10 minute slot is in the hands of Mike Smith from Mainly Kitchens, who we are all looking forward to getting to know better over the next few months.
Mainly kitchens is a family enterprise founded in 1982. Originally a design and build service for house extensions, the company branched into designing and fitting kitchens in the mid eighties, and can now manufacture all kinds of fitted and free standing furniture for domestic and commercial kitchens. Every week a different member has the chance to present their business to the group in the form of a 10 minute talk. This week is the turn of Frank Lyons of Humane Architecture, our chapter’s resident architect.
Frank has been a member of BNI Drake for some time, and has helped develop not only the buildings of members and their contacts, but also the structure of the group itself.
Frank has taught extensively, he was formerly Principle Lecturer and Director of Programmes at the University of Plymouth’s School of Architecture. He led the Zen Design Studio in the Graduate Diploma Programme, and the ideas developed by this and subsequent course became the basic philosophy for Humane Architecture. Read more...
